The hostel where we spent 5 nights is located in the heart of Edinburgh's old town. It is called "Smart City Hostels" and it is really welcoming and well situated. Indeed, we did almost all journeys on foot. We were near everything. We were separated in 3 rooms (4 with the teachers' room), which contain 6 or 8 beds and generally 2 toilets and 2 bathrooms. Cupboards were available and the hostel provided us sheets, covers and bath sheets. To enter in our room, we had an electronic card which enabled us to open the door. It is really clean and also welcoming. We ate in the bar located on the first floor. This bar is called Bar 50. We had the choice to eat what we wanted to and the food was really good (chips each days!!!). For breakfast, we could eat eggs, bacon, haggis.. or also milk, toasts and jam. It was greatly varied. The room where we ate is really nice, there is also armchairs, sofa and billiards table (only 50ct the play!). Some nights, the hostel organizes kind of "party". For example, on Monday, there was a band who came to play music and after there was "an open mic" which means that everyone could take the microphone and the guitar and play something. For lunch, the hostel gave us a packlunch and this is certainly the only thing opened to criticism : sandwiches are very very strange, you have to eat a lot at breakfast. Obviously, the hostel receives lots of people. You can't go to this hostel and hope to sleep at 8 p.m. There is many people and there is almost everytime some noise. Of course, it is a part of its charm. To conclude, we can say that this is a friendly hostel with nice rooms and a nice bar. We give you just an advice : Don't try to use the hairdryers of the rooms, they are a little bit failing.. ;)
